What is naturopathy?
Our Brisbane naturopath team works together to address the most complex, and chronic health issues for our clients. Our holistic, natural approach focuses on preventative care using modern science and proven natural solutions. We look after the whole of you, guiding you through your wellness journey and helping you take your health back into your own hands using natural medicine.
We specialise in treating complex and chronic cases. How do we do it? We draw on over 30 years of combined experienced and our signature patient management model.
This approach suits people who want to explore their whole health and correct imbalances that are causing their ill health to occur in the first place. Our naturopaths offer complete health care - they have extensive experience. Our clinic has helped over 15,000 people to shift their health - our methods are tried and trusted.
A health condition - and its symptoms - is often looked at in isolation, even chronic health conditions. This is the model of our traditional healthcare system worldwide. Through our natural health clinic, we have a different approach - we offer patient-centred care and spend a lot of time in your first consultation looking at the root cause of your health concerns. In doing this, our highly knowledgeable and highly qualified naturopaths can look at what has happened in your life as to why you are at the place you are. We will look at your social and emotional health as well as your general health and well being. Think of it as unbelievably supportive 'health Care' not just healthcare.

Our Brisbane Naturopathy Clinic
What makes us different from other Brisbane naturopath clinics?
We are not a quick-fix, one appointment natural health clinic. Healing takes time and we want to take time with you to help you heal. That's why our natural health clinic is a unique membership-based clinic (the only one in Australia) that treats the whole of you over a number of weeks or months - not one symptom at a time, one medication at a time.
Whether you have health goals, a specific health concern or health problems that you are struggling with - we are the natural health clinic for you. We will look at your individual health journey, nutrition and any nutritional supplements you might be taking, your stress, gut health, hormone health and mental health. Our health team across our naturopaths, acupuncture, remedial massage and emotional wellness (including hypnotherapy, holographic kinetics and kinesiology) work together using their incredible amount of knowledge to discuss your background and make your own health our top priority.
Yes, natural medicine includes herbal medicine. This natural health approach is very different from the vitamins or medications you receive from your doctor or pharmacist. Our Brisbane naturopaths offer complete care and will give you a range of treatment options to suit your life - it could be helping you to improve your nutrition, mental health, your body awareness or another aspect of your life.

Treatment
On your first visit, your naturopath will take a journey through your full health history to look for the cause of your problems. By treating the cause of your health conditions you will get deep and long-lasting results – leaving you feeling better in the long run. This holistic approach is in-depth and takes time, but focussing on your well being and the underlying cause of your health concern should be a top priority for you.

Most people invest an average of $49-$89 a week in the early stages of treatment on our Shift Heal Membership - which can include access to our other services (acupuncture, massage, hypnotherapy, kinesiology etc) as well as our online Membership Hub with hundreds and videos and resources from Katherine and our private Shift Members Facebook Group.

Our team of naturopaths have a lot of experience and there isn't much they haven't come across. You don't need to have a specific diagnosis to see one of our practitioners - they are treating you, not your disease. This is what makes naturopathy so effective; the individualisation of each person's treatment helps target what is really going on in your health, and in your life.
If you're ready to see a qualified naturopath, the first step is to book an initial in-depth 90-minute Discovery and Diagnosis initial consultation. You can learn more about this session here. You can either call us on 07 3367 0337 or use the booking form on this site to book your first appointment.
We prescribe and dispense only the highest quality natural medicines available so that we get great results, every time.
How naturopathy works
Your health care treatment plan will be made based on your individual needs – no two people are the same! This means that the herbal medicine and natural therapies you receive is targeted to your exact issue, allowing changes to be made much faster. Most patients report a significant change in at least some of their symptoms within the first two weeks of treatment. Wouldn't that be amazing for you too!
Our naturopath experts also use modern medicine tests including iridology (the study of the iris of the eye), and tongue and nail analysis to get a better picture of your complete health. Blood tests and other testing are also useful – so please bring in copies of recent tests or reports if you have them. Your naturopath - be it Katherine or Vanessa - may order further testing depending on your individual case – this can include functional pathology or conventional blood testing.
After your visit
After your initial appointment, our 90-minute Discovery and Diagnosis session, you might feel a little overwhelmed with the amount of information you've learnt about yourself and your body. And that's ok - it is completely normal! We have hundreds of resources we can offer on almost any health condition that you can take home - or receive by email - to read after your appointment.
We will also give you a script and information on what you need to do next - with your diet, body and mind - in order to make a shift. Then we'll book your following appointments and, because feedback is SO important to us, ask for your initial feedback on your experience with our clinic.

FAQs.
Both homeopathy and naturopathy believe in preventative care, but the stem of their philosophies are in different foundations. Homeopathy is solely focused on the use of remedies and is often used in naturopathy. Naturopathic medicine however uses a wide range of natural healing modalities to improve a person’s health. Think of it as “tools in the toolbox” – as well as botanicals, nutritional therapy and lifestyle counselling, homeopathy is just one of these tools.
At your first appointment, you will get an initial prescription which will show you what you need to take and what dietary changes you need to make right now.
Currently in Australia naturopathy is not covered by health insurance. We are hoping this will change over time so please keep checking back with us.
You can have your initial appointment without becoming a member of the clinic, this is still highly valuable and you’ll get some key insights to make some initial shifts.

You will often find that when you see one of our emotional wellness experts as well as seeing your naturopath, the diet and lifestyle changes you are making become so much easier without the emotional trauma, triggers and baggage you have been carrying.
Yes, naturopathy is a valuable part of a weight loss plan because it helps to address the underlying issues that can contribute to weight gain – like thyroid disease, insulin resistance, inflammation and hormonal imbalance. Our naturopaths can also give you a diet that is right for you and help to motivate and inspire you to live a healthier lifestyle. It’s not a magic solution though, weight loss takes an integrated approach with you in the centre.

Please bring any blood tests or other testing to your Discovery and Diagnosis session. Yes of course. The initial consultation, our Discovery and Diagnosis session, will provide you with a great amount of value and insight on its own. We frequently see children and adolescents for health conditions like eczema, acne, asthma, digestive issues and stress and fatigue.

Kids respond incredibly well to naturopathy. All of our naturopaths are trained in treating children with naturopathy, as well as mothers themselves, so they know the unique challenges that kids are faced with when it comes to their health.

Children and adolescents are not required to have a membership to see any practitioner at Shift at Brisbane Natural Health, including our naturopaths. This is because they often respond very quickly, don’t need as many appointments and their care is often less intensive than the care of adults.
