Clinical Nutritionists Brisbane

Nutritional support for optimal health.

What is Nutritional Medicine?

Nutritional Medicine is a holistic approach to preventing disease, treating disease and creating and maintaining optimal health. This nutritional approach includes identifying imbalances or disease states within the body and restoring your body to balance.

Nutritional Medicine uses the principles of diet, sleep, movement and lifestyle management with an emphasis on nutrition, vitamins, and minerals to improve your health. Like Naturopathy, Nutritional Medicine identifies and treats the root cause of your health issue and supports your body back to good health.

What can you expect by coming to our Brisbane nutrition clinic?

At Shift Clinic Brisbane, we offer a range of Naturopathy and Nutritionist support with a team of expert naturopaths and nutritionists

When you arrive at our clinic in Milton (we also offer virtual appointments from anywhere in the world!) you will enter our warm, inviting clinic space and be welcomed by our Client Services team.

We recommend you arrive at least 5 minutes before your appointment so you can leave the stresses of the day behind you, and take some time to have a cup of tea and relax.

Our Brisbane Nutrition Clinic

We are not a quick-fix, one-appointment nutrition clinic. Healing takes time and we want to take time with you to help you heal. That's why our nutrition service is part of a unique membership-based clinic (the only one in Australia) that treats the whole of you over several weeks or months - not one symptom at a time, one medication at a time.

Whether you have health goals, a specific health issue, or health concerns and health problems that you are struggling with - we are the clinic for you. We will look at your individual health journey, nutrition and any nutritional supplements you might be taking, stress, gut health, hormone health and mental health.

Our health team across our naturopaths, acupuncture, remedial massage and emotional wellness practitioners (including hypnotherapy, holographic kinetics and kinesiology) work together using their incredible amount of knowledge to discuss your background and make your own health our top priority.

Yes, natural medicine includes herbal medicine. This natural approach is very different from the vitamins or medications you receive from your doctor or pharmacist. Our Brisbane naturopaths and nutritionists offer complete care and will give you a range of treatment options to suit your life - it could be helping you to improve your nutrition, mental health, your body awareness or another aspect of your life.

Pricing

An initial appointment with a Shift Clinic Brisbane Nutritionist is $180 and is 60 minutes long. In this appointment, you’ll gain some incredible insights into your current state of diet, which key areas you need to work on and what you need to do to begin shifting your health. Our wellness clinic is patient-centred and takes a holistic approach. We will focus on the root cause of the nutritional support or health issue you want to focus on.

After your initial nutrition appointment, you will get a follow-up with a comprehensive meal plan and details on what dietary changes you need to make right now. You can also book your follow-up appointment with us at the end of your appointment.

Booking

Call us on 07 3367 0337 and our wellness clinic client care team will guide you with your booking and ask you a couple of questions.

Arrival

Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your appointment time. This will ensure you are relaxed and ready for your appointment.

Before your appointment, you will receive some communication from us including a pre-appointment questionnaire about your health. To maximise the time you have with your nutritionist, please make sure you complete this questionnaire before your first appointment. We will review your own health history, life changes and health conditions before we see you and come armed with questions to help you achieve optimal health!

Treatment

During an initial Nutritional Medicine Consultation, we will assess your current health status with a thorough analysis of your body systems, lifestyle, diet and history while also considering any health concerns or goals you wish to achieve.

The consultation includes a thorough health history, screening and ordering of any necessary nutritional or functional tests. With consideration of your specific health needs, a nutritional prescription and action plan will then be composed. This is your fully customised individual nutritional treatment guide that will help you reach your ideal health outcome.

A follow-up consultation is an important check-in to ensure that you are getting the best outcomes possible and starting to see results. Our Nutritionist will review your treatment plan and interpret test results to continue to align with your health goals.

After the consultations, you will have your very own action plan to implement but you won’t need to do it all at once! Our Nutritionist will guide you on the steps to take to make significant and lasting change. We are here for you every step of the way with regular check-ins and follow-up consultations as you need.

At your initial appointment, we will explain our health and wellness membership packages and talk you through your options for ongoing treatment. Most people invest an average of $49-$89 a week in the early stages of treatment on our Shift Heal Membership - which can include access to our other services (acupuncture, massage, hypnotherapy, kinesiology etc) as well as our online Membership Hub with hundreds and videos and resources from Katherine and our private Shift Members Facebook Group.

How nutritional medicine works

Nutritional Medicine works to restore and maintain health with an individualised treatment plan tailored to your specific health needs. Everybody is different therefore, everybody's nutrition health care plan is different. Your Nutrition plan may focus on anything from  nervous system health to weight loss to hormone balance to energy levels.

It is helpful to have pathology tests to determine nutritional status and assess various health markers within the body. Other testing may include a GI map (ie: stool test), breath test (for SIBO) and allergy screening.

After sticking to a nutritional medicine treatment plan, people report having more energy, better sleep, balanced weight and an improvement in symptoms. By committing to the process and incorporating appropriate whole foods, supplements and lifestyle changes, positive change and health improvements occur!

After an initial consultation with our Nutritionist, you will receive your individualised treatment plan. This plan is targeted to address your unique health issues and goals. The plan will address and treat any health concerns specific to you.

It may be that your body has deficiencies in certain vitamins or minerals (like Iron or B12 for example) that need to be restored, or that your nervous system needs nutrients to improve sleep or decrease stress levels. The plan will include a prescription for appropriate vitamins, and minerals alongside food recommendations and/or a meal plan/recipe collection of your very own.

Alongside this, tests may be ordered to get to the root cause of your health issue. Common tests include pathology for testing nutrient levels and lipid markers and GI tracking to check the state of your gut.

Some people experience change within the first few days of making dietary shifts, for others and depending on the condition, it may take 1-3 weeks. The key to experiencing improvement is committing to the treatment plan and taking action!

After your visit

After your initial nutrition appointment, you might feel a little overwhelmed with the amount of information you've learnt about yourself and your body. And that's ok - it is completely normal! We have hundreds of resources we can offer on almost any health condition that you can take home - or receive by email - to read after your appointment.

A few days later you will receive a follow-up with a nutritional plan and a list of any supplements we recommended to help you shift.

Feedback and reviews

You can provide feedback - the good, the bad, and the ugly - to our founder Katherine at any time in your healing journey. Simply email her via shift@theshiftclinic.com and she will take your feedback on board to improve our services.
