Low Sperm Count Treatment

Male factor infertility is responsible for approximately 40–50% of all infertility cases, making it a significant and increasingly common concern for infertile couples. Many men are found to have suboptimal sperm parameters, which may include low sperm count, poor motility, or abnormal sperm shape. A low sperm count causes male infertility by greatly reducing the chances of a healthy sperm reaching and fertilising the woman’s egg.

Our natural treatment process for low sperm count

Thankfully, there are many effective natural treatment options available to support healthy sperm production and improve sperm count. At The Shift Clinic Brisbane, we offer dedicated male fertility and reproductive health care with a strong focus on improving sperm count and overall sperm health.

The significant impact of diet, environmental and lifestyle factors on natural male fertility is often overlooked. That’s why our treatment approach is personalised and holistic, supporting your journey toward healthy conception. This may include enhancing fertility, balancing hormone levels, and incorporating natural therapies for stress management, increased energy, and overall well-being.

Following a comprehensive assessment of your individual health and medical history, your naturopath may prescribe targeted nutritional supplements and herbal medicines to support sperm production, as well as dietary guidelines and lifestyle suggestions specific to you. If poor sperm morphology is a concern, this will also be addressed as part of your tailored treatment plan.

Low Sperm Count
Shift Clinic

Why choose Shift for low sperm count treatment in Brisbane?

At The Shift Clinic, our fertility naturopaths are trained to interpret semen analyses, measuring sperm counts and identifying optimal ranges for sperm health. We have natural solutions to support low sperm count, poor morphology, poor sperm motility and erectile dysfunction issues in men that can contribute to male infertility.

Our practitioners:

  • Take a whole body approach, addressing the underlying cause, not just the surface symptoms
  • Support both your physical and emotional wellbeing throughout the process
  • Provide advice based on the latest scientific research on natural male fertility solutions
  • Offer unbelievably supportive, collaborative care as part of a team committed to helping you achieve the best possible outcome

What to expect from your treatment

An initial appointment with a Shift fertility naturopath is $290 and the session is 2 hours in length. This includes the assessment of both partners and liaising with your fertility specialist and GPs as needed.

If you’re looking for an online fertility naturopath, we can also help with this. Appointments can be done at our Brisbane clinic in Milton or online from anywhere in the world.

If you’re coming to Brisbane, we recommend you arrive 10 minutes earlier so you can grab a cup of tea and settle into our calming space before your appointment. If your appointment is online, take a few moments to set yourself up in a comfortable spot before you connect with your naturopath.

Your appointment will be with our senior naturopath, Vanessa Cobern, who specialises in fertility care. Vanessa is a Bachelor-qualified naturopath with a friendly and empathetic nature.

At Shift, we work within a collaborative care model, meaning Vanessa’s cases are often reviewed and supported by our founder and fertility specialist, Katherine Maslen, along with the wider naturopathic team. This ensures you receive the most comprehensive and well-rounded support possible on your fertility journey.

Your initial fertility naturopathic consultation will be up to 2 hours in length as your practitioner will take a journey through your full health history and identify any low sperm count symptoms you may be experiencing.

Our experienced naturopaths will use their diagnostic tools and wealth of knowledge to find the underlying cause of your fertility problems. Where necessary, they will refer you for pathology testing, such as a semen analysis or blood and urine tests to determine any issues with the pituitary gland and get a deeper understanding of what is going on for you. If you have already had any testing done in the past 2 years, please bring this with you for assessment.

After this consultation, you’ll walk away with a treatment plan that will include nutritional support, herbal medicine, dietary guidelines, and lifestyle suggestions specific to you.

Our memberships provide highly supportive healthcare to work on your natural fertility, with or without the collaboration of your medical fertility specialist.

As your treatment is personalised, it will differ from patient to patient, however you can expect a combination of the following:

Herbs and Supplements

Utilising centuries of traditional knowledge that is backed by modern research, naturopaths prescribe specific herbal medicine and supplements to address underlying fertility issues, balance any hormonal problems and enhance reproductive function. We have a beautiful in house dispensary filled with high grade quality herbs and supplements, scientifically proven to enhance fertility rates and support sperm production.

Dietary Advice

Our naturopaths will guide you towards a balanced and healthy diet to enhance your fertility. The food you eat serves as the building blocks for your body, providing the essential nutrients and energy required for improving fertility and overall reproductive health. By focusing on a male fertility focused diet, you can nourish your body, support hormonal balance, enhance sperm count and sperm quality, and create an optimal environment for conception.

Working with our fertility specialists

Our treatment programs encompass a broad range of natural therapies with our fertility experts. This includes naturopathy, nutrition and food coaching, and acupuncture, in combination or alone, depending on your needs. We also offer hypnotherapy for fertility for psychological and nervous system support to help with the challenges that infertility can cause. You can meet our full team here.

After your initial appointment, if you wish to continue working with our fertility team we offer unique fertility memberships that have helped hundreds of couples to achieve their dream of becoming a parent. We recognise that the fertility journey is complex and that a multi-faceted approach works best to allow our members to achieve pregnancy as soon as possible.

After your Discovery and Diagnosis session you can choose to become a member of Shift Fertility, our signature 18 week fertility program. Then we embark on a journey of methodically working through your health issues and towards optimal health. Our holistic approach means that treatment will shift and change as you do – meaning we can achieve balance then move on to other areas that need support.

Low sperm count FAQs.

This 2023 article explains that low sperm count is most often caused by a mix of genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors. Exposure to toxins like heavy metals and hormone-disrupting chemicals can impair sperm production, while poor nutrition and low levels of key nutrients, such as zinc and vitamins A and E, can also impair fertility and affect sperm count. All of these factors can make it harder to conceive naturally.

Other possible causes include heat stress (including elevated body temperature or frequent hot tub/sauna use), certain types of exercise, including those involving prolonged sitting, such as cycling or driving, and mobile phone use. Evidence shows that using a mobile phone a lot may reduce sperm movement and increase sperm DNA damage, so it’s worth keeping it out of your pocket gents.

Natural fertility care supports healthy sperm and hormone production by addressing diet, lifestyle, and environmental factors and boosts your chances of conceiving naturally by increasing the chances of sperm reaching your partner’s egg. At The Shift Clinic, our fertility naturopaths create personalised treatment plans using herbal medicine, nutritional supplements, and dietary guidance to improve sperm count, sperm quality, and motility. We also offer stress management and complementary therapies like acupuncture and hypnotherapy.

Yes, it’s still possible to get pregnant if your husband has a low sperm count, it might just take a little longer. Natural fertility treatment can help improve sperm production and boost your chances of conceiving naturally.

No, you don’t need a referral to see a naturopath for low sperm count. You can easily book your Fertility Discovery & Diagnostic appointment online or by calling our friendly client care team.
